Gmail was down and I am sure people got fired

Today gmail was down and it was out for more than an hour.

For those of us blessed with smart bosses, we were lucky.  However for those with ignorant bosses who swore it was the IT Department who caused the internet/gmail to go down.  I truly feel sorry for you.

After all Google never goes down right?  Well if you truly believe that I feel sorry for you.  Imagine right now someone just got internet installed and tried to go to gmail.com and it failed.  I bet you they are calling Comcast, Verizon, sprint, asking them what happened to their computer/phone.  Some people will even probably blame the tech who was there like 3 weeks ago.

This could be payback for all those years at an old job of mine who swore that Google was perfect and everything about it was from God.  Well guys I am sorry to tell you, Google is now a target.  Google has always been a target; but now they have been down so much, that I only see people going out of business waiting on an important email to come through that never arrived.

Google is so diversified that maybe they don't have time to mess with gmail, after all they own so much more.

Although I am solely a Linux creature of habit, I still love my good old  Exchange Servers.  Sure its got its moments and sure it goes down from time to time; but for the most important feature is CONTROL.

Having control and not depending on total cloud based solutions, gives you some level of authority over your organization vs. a number in some long line with over millions of customers.  But for those of you not sold on managing your own solution in house...   You will come to find out that the larger Google / cloud based solutions becomes the smaller you will be.

If you don't believe me try calling Google and ask them what caused it and to guarantee you it will never happen again.

The screen shot below gives me more reasons for me to only use google for personal email and nothing more.
